Another Excellent Rating! Hubei Key Laboratory of Intelligent Yangtze and Hydroelectric Science Achieves "Excellent" in 2025 Performance Evaluation

Recently, the Department of Science and Technology of Hubei Province officially announced the results of the 2025 provincial key laboratory performance evaluation. The Hubei Key Laboratory of Intelligent Yangtze and Hydroelectric Science (hereinafter referred to as "the Laboratory") stood out from 225 participating laboratories and was rated at the highest level of "Excellent Benchmark". This marks the third time the Laboratory has received an "Excellent" rating since its establishment in 2020.

As CYPC's first provincial-level key laboratory, the Laboratory is dedicated to enhancing systematic joint operation capabilities of the world's largest clean energy corridor. It pursues five core research priorities: hydropower big data integration; intelligent hydrological forecasting for watersheds under changing conditions; joint, intelligent, and optimal operation and risk control of cascade reservoir system; simulation and intelligent decision support for coordinated optimal operation of reservoirs; ecological operation and reservoir eco-environmental security monitoring & early warning.

The Laboratory's full-time research staff is highly qualified, with 96% holding master's degrees or above and 54% possessing doctorates. This has fostered a well-structured talent pipeline led by senior experts, anchored by young master's and doctoral graduates, and reinforced by postdoctoral fellows and jointly trained graduate students. In 2025, aligned with industry trends and technological frontiers, the Laboratory published 72 papers, filed 49 invention patents, and received 13 provincial, ministerial, and key industry association awards, including first prizes in both the Dayu Water Conservancy Science and Technology Award and the Yangtze River Science & Technology Award. Looking ahead, CYPC will address the hydropower development needs of the Yangtze River Basin by advancing cutting-edge R&D in smart water conservancy and digital hydropower, contributing innovative solutions to the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the secure, stable supply of clean energy.
