As of August 31, 2025, the accumulative power generation of the Three Gorges Hydropower Plant (TGHPP) exceeded 1,800 TWh, equivalent to saving approximately 540 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.48 billion tons. Continuous streams of clean electricity have been delivered to Central China, East China, Guangdong, and other regions, providing a solid support for national economic and social development as well as the residential electricity demand.

Boasting a total installed capacity of 22.5 GW, TGHPP serves as a backbone power source for China's West-East Power Transmission Project and South-North Power Transaction Project, as well as a major clean energy production base. Since the first generating unit was commissioned in 2003, TGHPP has maintained long-term safe and stable operation. As the operator of this key national project, CYPC, under the premise of ensuring flood control safety, has been enhancing the water resource utilization rate through optimizing reservoir operations with the support and guidance of the CWRC, State Grid, and China Southern Power Grid. In addition, the company has been improving its intelligent monitoring and early-warning systems, and strengthening equipment diagnostic operation to ensure high-quality operation and maintenance of the whole plant. These efforts have comprehensively improved equipment reliability and provided strong momentum for energy supply security.

Up to now, the TGHPP, together with Wudongde, Baihetan, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, and Gezhouba hydropower plants, has formed the world's largest clean energy corridor. This green corridor spans 1,800 kilometers, with a total installed capacity of 71,695 MW and an average annual power generation of approximately 300 TWh. It plays an active role in promoting nationwide grid interconnection and ensuring national energy security, and contributes significantly to achieving China's carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals and the comprehensive green transformation of the economy and society.
