Release time:2024-08-25

Recently, with the joint efforts of Peru’s Chancay Port Management Co., Ltd. and CYPC LDS, the administrative region where the Chancay Port project is located has been successfully electrified, laying a solid foundation for the port to be put into operation as planned.

As a cooperation project of the Belt and Road Initiative jointly built by China and Peru, the Peru Chancay Port Project is located about 80 kilometers north of Lima, Peru, it is controlled and operated by COSCO Shipping Group. Chancay Port is planned to be completed and put into operation before the APEC meeting in November 2024. Upon completion of the project, it will become a trading hub between South America and the Asia-Pacific region, playing an important role in promoting employment, international trade, and economic development.

In order to solve the power supply problem during the port construction process, LDS has conducted multiple rounds of negotiations with Peru Chancay Port Management Co., Ltd. and has generally determined that the Saint Teresa I Hydropower Station owned by LDS would supply power to the Chancay Port Project. In order to strengthen cooperation between central state-owned enterprises and investigate the needs of electricity users on site, LDS negotiated with COSCO Shipping Group on site in June, working on the perfection of, the power supply plan for the port, in order to meet the power supply demand in advance.

In the future, LDS will continue to provide power supply services for the Chancay Port Project and carry out extensive cooperation with COSCO Shipping Group in the construction of distributed photovoltaic power generation projects and electric vehicle charging piles at the port, so as to to build Chancay Port into a low-carbon and green landmark port in South America.
