Recently, the Forecast & Dispatch Team of the World's Largest Clean Energy Corridor, under the Three Gorges Cascade Dispatch & Communication Center ("TGDCC"), a functional center of CYPC, has been honored as recipients of the 4th "Most Beautiful CTG Workers" Award. This marks another significant accolade for the team following their receipt of the "Hubei Youth May Fourth Medal for Collectives". This accolade further exemplifies their steadfast commitment to fulfilling their duties with exemplary conduct and empowering the high-quality development of the nation's critical asset through hard work and solid performance.
Rooting in forecast and dispatch, acting as the strategic brain for cascade joint dispatching
As the "smart hub" for the cascade reservoir operation along the mainstream of the Yangtze River, the team has dedicated years to mastering the core technologies of hydrological forecasting and cascade dispatch. Through practical operations, they have honed a formidable capability: "assessing trends 10 days in advance, gauging flood magnitudes 5 days in advance, and pinpointing hydrological processes 2 days in advance". By delivering precise hydro-meteorological forecasts and conducting sound cascade reservoir operation, the team has effectively fortified the flood control barrier of the Yangtze River Basin. When confronting the third-largest Yangtze River basin flood since the founding of the PRC in 2020, as well as the three numbered floods along the mainstream of the Yangtze River in 2024, they accurately forecasted and assessed flood trends in advance. By operating the cascade reservoirs to coordinate flood control operations, they securely held the line on flood safety across the basin. Their efforts successfully prevented the activation of the Jingjiang flood diversion zone and other flood retention areas, sparing 600,000 residents from relocation and safeguarding the safety and tranquility of the Yangtze River with professional dedication.
Enhancing quality and efficiency in dispatch, acting as the actuary for comprehensive benefits
Cascade reservoir operation requires not only balancing the "water ledger", but also safeguarding the "safety ledger", maximizing the "economic ledger" and actualizing the "comprehensive benefit ledger". Coordinating multifaceted demands, the team focuses on multi-objective optimized operation encompassing flood control security, energy supply guarantee, and unimpeded navigation, thereby driving the nation's low-carbon, green transition through precise operation. To date, the world's largest clean energy corridor has cumulatively utilized water resources to generate an incremental output of over 168 TWh, equivalent to saving more than 50 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 130 million tons.
Forging core strength via technological innovation, acting as the navigator for smart hydropower development
Guided by the principle of driving high-quality business development through technological innovation, the team adheres to the philosophy of "integrating production with research, boosting production via research achievements", continuously tackling core technological bottlenecks. They have completed over 140 cutting-edge research projects, produced more than 400 intellectual deliverables, including academic papers, software copyrights, patents, and standards, and won over 40 provincial, ministerial, and industry-level awards, with an average annual growth rate of research outputs exceeding 20%. Leveraging the provincial-level exemplary innovation workshop under the department, the team has secured successive breakthroughs in core forecasting and dispatching technologies, steadily boosted interdisciplinary integration, and earned wide recognition from the industry for relevant research outcomes, spearheading the smart upgrade of river basin dispatching via technological innovation.
Building a solid foundation via talent development, serving as an incubator for outstanding young professionals
Upholding the "mentor-mentee" tradition and passing on professional expertise, the team deepens industry-research integration and fosters talents through on-site practical assignments. They have dedicated themselves to building a robust platform for professional growth on the frontline of dispatch, successively nurturing a cohort of core and exemplary professionals and reserving high-caliber youth talent for the industry's development. These include XU Weili, recipient of the National May Day Labor Medal, and SHU Weimin, one of the CTG Top Ten Outstanding Youths.
Honors anchor our original mission; a new journey beckons. The TGDCC's Forecast & Dispatch Team of the World's Largest Clean Energy Corridor will continue to carry forward the Three Gorges Project Spirit. They will relentlessly focus on precise forecasting and sound dispatch, driven by solid action and steadfast accountability to ensure that the comprehensive benefits of the nation's critical asset are fully realized, proving themselves to be "the Most Beautiful CTG Workers" of the new era.
